Admissions Process

Thank you for considering Cornerstone Preparatory School for Therapeutic Education for your child.

Cornerstone  Preparatory School for Therapeutic Education (CPS) combines the best of both worlds; individualized learning and therapy into one curriculum to support the needs of students with learning differences and disabilities. Instruction is personalized to match individual learning styles while the occupational therapeutic needs of the child are addressed to give him/her the best chance at success. Expressive language, fluency and social skills are also addressed throughout the day by a speech language pathologist.

Currently we serve children ages 8-12 years old with noted delays in the academic areas of reading, writing, and math; as well as mild-moderate speech and/or language delays.  Students in our program may also exhibit difficulties with fine motor skills, visual-motor development, and sensory processing.

Cornerstone is not an appropriate learning environment for children with significant behavioral/psychiatric or social challenges due to emotional or behavioral disorders.

CPS is an LLC acting in a homeschool capacity.  It is everything you would expect in a home environment; cozy, nurturing, low stimulation and personalized one on one attention.  Due to the nature of our school our admissions process tends to be more comprehensive. This is to ensure that the children are a good fit for each other academically, therapeutically, behaviorally and personality wise.

Following a review of a child’s application, a candidate for admission will be invited to begin our screening process. The screening includes a brief assessment of speech language, motor, cognitive and social-emotional skills as well as an on-site observation of the child in our classroom setting.
