This week we introduced time to the hour on the analog clock. We practiced ‘building the clock’ and placing numbers 1 through 12 correctly around the clock. AC and W completed different activities, like matching analog clocks and saying the time ( 2 o’clock, 5 o’clock, etc.) to help reinforce time to the hour.
Since last week we worked on digital time, this week we reviewed reading the digital clock. It is important to continue practicing skills, even after the skill is taught and mastered by the students. AC and W played a digital clock game to review. They had to choose an hour card and a minute card then put them together to read the time.
We love everything about Valentine’s Day – the hearts, the candy, the love! W is very focused reading his Valentine’s Day readers. He read them to the teacher while carefully keeping track of his place by using his finger as a guide. One of the readers had comprehension questions that required W to read and answer at the end of each page.
In this activity, W and AC read a Valentine’s story and had to carefully sequence the events that happened. Once they were finished reading we went back to the first page and discussed what happened first, next, last, etc. The pictures in the story gave clues to help guide AC and W while determining the sequential order of the events.
Dough stampers were utilized to reinforce spelling words in OT this week. These are a great tool to encourage proper grasp and to promote hand strength and fine motor development. The activity demand was increased by adding more letters that the students had to scan and locate to accurately spell the word.
Wyatt is doing a great job with shoe lace tying! We are using a strategy that decreases some of the fine motor demand. He has picked up the technique quickly and is making quick gains!
